View from the bus

You will arrive in Macau in about 40 minutes after boarding the bus. Even in winter, the bus is air-conditioned and can be cold, so having a jacket is reassuring. The ride is comfortable, except for the cold.

5. Arriving at the Macau Immigration Building

After arriving, get off the bus and go through Macau immigration. Follow the flow of people, and you won’t have any issues.

Once the immigration check is done, you are free to go.

After entering Macau, you can use taxis or free shuttle buses from various casino hotels.

As of February 2024, Macau taxis only accept cash. Hong Kong dollars are accepted, but change is given in Macau currency. Taxis are recommended for those who want to reach their destination quickly.

The shuttle bus is easy to use, but it has its pros and cons.

Pros of the Shuttle BusCons of the Shuttle Bus
– Cheap fare– Takes longer than the ferry
– Frequent buses, no need to worry about the schedule– Multiple stops
– Avoid seasickness– Crowded immigration

My family and I get motion sickness easily, so being able to avoid seasickness was a huge plus, even if it took a bit longer.

In our case,
it took about an hour to the port, 40 minutes from Hong Kong to Macau, and 30 minutes from Macau to the city. Including procedures, it took about 2.5 hours one way.

For those who prioritize time, the ferry is recommended. The ferry takes only 1 hour from Hong Kong to Macau, making it an efficient mode of transportation.

It operates from early morning to late at night, making it very convenient. With a time-specific ticket, you can secure your departure time and seat in advance, even during peak seasons. The seat number is assigned on the day at the ferry terminal.

ProsCons
